I have been directing a video shoot and photo shoot at the hospital. I thought I would post some pictures so that you can see what I do at work when I'm not behind a computer...the photos are from a scouting trip. The weather is from hurricane fay.

With great saddness...

We had a difficult week last week. We didn't get very much time with our dear Harlow. He struggled really hard through a major gastro-intestinal deformity or a liver shunt. We was an awesome kitty and devastatingly cute.

We had to put him asleep last Thursday.

We took him home a placed him under two poplars and a weeping cherry in our back yard.

It is where the bunnies play.

We miss you Harlow.

Love Tiffany and Rick

Bamboozled

Okay. So Tiff and I drove an hour away to Taylor South Carolina to meet a lady who was bringing our cat to adopt. They are rescue cats from shelters, etc.

We waited over an hour and made multiple calls and finally got through. Long story. So she pulls up, gets out, and walks over to us with the kitten. We we expecting a Maine Coon domestic mix, female, 10 weeks old, short hair.

Tiff leans forward to peer inside the carrier. "Ummm, that's not the cat we came to get."

Inside is a tiny Maine Coon tabby, 7 weeks old, and medium length hair! So we check out the kitty, she is gorgeous (of course) and super sweet (of course) and she falls asleep in Tiff's arms after 5 minutes. You can guess what we do.

So we are driving home, got lost twice, or three times, whatever, who's counting.

Now, we are just arriving in Hendersonville and Tiffany pauses and flips the kitty over. Penis. The kitten has a penis.

So now we have a 7 weeks, male, Maine Coon tabby with medium length hair.

So we were totally bamboozled by this lady, but I think we ended up with a excellent kitty which will surely bring lots of love and fun into our home. We named him Harlow.

Whew!

Narrowing it down

We are obviously getting photo updates on the different pups frequently. We are trying to narrow the choices down to two puppies. Right now it is between the green collar and the black collar. They both have great proportions, muzzles, shapely ears, etc. And, for what it's worth, they seem curious and inquisitive from the photos.

At the same time...coming to these conclusions through pictures seems kind of ridiculous.

We are waiting on an update
regarding their temperament and personalities. The pups sometimes change as the weeks go by. The selection process is more stressful than I thought it would be.

Kitty Kitty

I finally got a hold of the woman who has her right now and she said we could pick her up tonight or tomorrow. She is a Maine Coon, domestic mix.

Happy Birthday Rick, just what you always wanted was a kitten! :) We are hoping the kitten and puppy get along, but guess time will tell.

Rainy Day Rovering

Heather & Rob - Come to Visit

Heather and Rob came down on Saturday. Rob has family in Canton about 40 minutes away from Hendersonville. We had lunch downtown and gave them a quick tour of the house.

We took them to the Carl Sandburg house to see the grounds and the goat farm. The baby goats are getting pretty big, but they are still a lot of them and they are a riot to play with.

After the goats, we hiked up Glassy
Mountain which is right above the Sandburg house. We even discovered a random crypt up there will the names "Hall" on it. I think it read 1812.

That night we had dinner at the Purple Onion in Saluda and watched the Drover's Old Time Medicine Show. They played some great, original old time music which is pretty popular in the mountains and the piedmont here. We had a great time!

Puppy update.

The puppies are getting bigger and are almost ready. She will be seven weeks and change, when we pick her up. Seven to eight weeks is supposed to be the ideal age.

The four females each have a different collar and we have some detailed photos of head shape, chest shape and symmetry, etc. We have first pick and I have been reading a ton of information on how to pick an ideal puppy. Like what to look for in behavior, physique, color, etc. I just think they all look and act like puppies. How do you really pick?

We also have a nice wooden crate coming soon that should help the crate
training process. Now it is time to get the house "puppy ready."

Uwharrie Rover Expedition coming soon...

Our favorite Rover trip of the year is coming up on October 24-26th. It is the Uwharrie Rover Expedition URE in North Carolina’s Uwharrie National Forest. Last year LRM a British publication printed our club's event. It is an awesome time of camping, Land Rovers and dogs. I'm getting excited!

Tiff and I have come along way with our driving and understanding of how our Discovery works and its limits. I won't be having a 6 hour long heart attack while I'm trail riding this year.
