Cedar Shake Eaves Hurray!
The eaves are done! It looks great in person, I don't think the pictures do it justice. We worked on windows all weekend, again....

Annie and Jeff helping out again.
For some reason I don't have a lot of pictures of Anne and Jeff helping out. Probably because we are working so hard. It was way warmer this weekend, reaching the mid 50s. It is looking up for this week, maybe 60. Cheers
Sorry for the cloudy pictures, wrong setting for dusk.
The pile of shingles is our new palette of cedar shake for the eaves. Same goes for the brackets in the kitchen.

Freezing COLD!
I feel like all of the comments and assurances about how warm it is down south might have been a trick to get us down here. Saturday through Sunday the temperature ranged from 16-25 degrees. This morning it is 18. We got a lot done at the house though. We primed and painted the front and dining room windows. We sanded and filled the windows next to the fireplace and the dining room windows. It feels good to be moving ahead again. I made some video of a quick tour of the house and the bottom of the post.

The most snow in 2 years.
We got "major" snow in Hendersonville. Down south they are completely freaked out by even the forecast of snow. I have been getting emails of postponed meetings since Monday. Schools, businesses, etc. everything shut down today because of 4in. I was at work at 6:30 in the Rover, no problem right? Here we are playing by our house. Jeremiah and Liz are in the blue Disco. There are no city plows mind you, just private businesses. So, they have no idea how to plow correctly, they leave huge ridges of snow and push it in all the wrong spots. It is fun for the day though

, it should be melted by tomorrow.

Chuggin away...
The house is coming along. I stopped at lunch today and they had most of the old window casings back in. The north side of the house has siding. The roof is done, soffits are done, all of the rough inspections are done. At lunch Gibson's was blowing in the insulation. Tiffany and I have decided to take it one day at a time.

Deutschland - American German surprise!
We went with Mom and Dad Gillespie to Germany for New Years to surprise Nick and Maddy. It almost worked. The hotel that we were staying at called Nick at Wolfgang's(Maddy's Dad's house) to confirm four Americans. He didn't reveal it to Maddy though and she was very definitely surprised.
We had an absolutely amazing time in Penig, Dresden, Siphon, then to Munich for the last three days. I got a chance to meet Hughie and Susan who live in Ireland and the rest of the German crew. Of course there is way too much to write. We had an awesome New Years and made some unforgettable memories. I can see why Nick wanted to live in Germany. The beer isn't too bad either.
