Chi-town

Tiffany and Mom went to Chicago for the weekend. They had a great time, but I'll let Tiff post for that one.

Jimbo is famous...

My dear friend Jim Biewer stars in a new recruitment video for North Wood University.
Cheers Jim, good job ol' buddy! You look very dapper...as always.

Sarah Palin - Joey had her first

I just remembered the other day the Joe took a photo of Sarah Palin for the cover of Alaska Magazine in January 2008.
Awesome achievement especially now!

Tiff's B-day and Hot Springs

We went back up to Mountain Side Cabins in Hot Springs this weekend for Tiffany's birthday. Liz's and Tiffany have the same birthday, so we had a double celebration!

The weather was beautiful and autumn is starting to show itself here and there. We stayed in the same cabin again and stayed just the one night up there. I also meet Scott, the owner, who told us about a mill house up above the cabins that he used to build them, which was a neat fact.

We made 4:45pm reservations in the hot tubs also. Hot Springs was established in 1780 when a bath house was built over the mineral hot spings. It became a vacation and healing destination since then. The tubs get water pumped directly into them. I took a picture of the original bath house ruins, which are in the rebuilding stages right now.

I got a
great picture of Olive discovering a box turtle on Sunday morning. She and I hiked up behind the cabins on a two track that runs up the saw mill.

We had a great time and Marshall and Olive got to meet each other finally. Olive got a chance to bite on Marshall's lips and Marshall got 10 chances to sniff Olive everywhere.

Play time

Olive does this hilarious thing when her gums get dry, while she is chewing on fluffy dry toys...her lips stick up.
We also love it when she points...like in the second picture. "Find the bird!"

The last picture is the most common picture I get of Olive.

Olive

After a long tough week with the loss of Harlow, we brought Olive home according to schedule.

We met our breeder, Anita, in Lawerenceville, GA at the Bass Pro Shops. We played catch with puppies for about an hour and finally picked out our pup. We ended up going with the girl in the black collar. She is confident and curious. She was the darkest colored puppy and has a great shaped head and chest.

We took her home and she has been doing very well with the crate and going outside to the bathroom. She has had some accidents, but they were either due to me, or play time was too much fun to take a break.

The first night in the crate was challenging, but she (and we) made it through fine and Olive is getting used to going into the crate during our meals, at night, etc.

She loves her pheasant and her blanket that Mom brought with her last time they came down to visit.

Olive's eyes are turning from blue to green and shortly they will turn an orange color as she begins toddler-hood.
